Getting to the top of Google tips: SEO basics

Google search engine accounting for 65% of more that 15 billion searches in the US. The essential goal of the every website is to be shown up at the at least TOP 10 results in Google.

Time to time Google is changing and improving it’s ranking system. Some tips stays the same each time but some are new.

1. Think like people who “googles”

Consumers intend to use more precise and longer search terms than ever before. The average length of an online search query has grown from under 2.9 words in 2008 to 3.15 in 2010.  Think like your consumers and target precise and long tale keywords for Google.

2. Name your URLs

Use your keywords in the name of URLs in stead of symbols and numbers. Google likes that much better.

3. Backlinks

Back links is the one essential rule that Google mechanism based and Google has no plans to change it yet. A link back to your site is like a vote for your site in the eyes of Google.

4. Use social network

Facebook and Twitter now shows up in the Google’s top results. Use this opportunity.

5. Add videos

Offering a video is 50 times more likely to move a website to the first page of search results that adding a new page of a text. There is much less competition among videos than among text and images.
