Google released another Panda Update

Google keeps tweaking it’s algorithm, and another Google Panda Update was released at the end of September 2011.

Panda Updates has the goal to give users better quality search results, by lowering the rank of so called Content Farms. Content Farms are website with lot of content, often user generated. Content Farms usually produce thousands of webpages each day. Which makes Google doubt the quality of these webpages.

Websites that got hit by Panda Update saw huge traffic decrease up to 93%.

Here is the list of all Panda Updates.

Panda Update 1.0: Feb. 24, 2011
Panda Update 2.0: April 11, 2011 (about 7 week gap)
Panda Update 2.1: May 10, 2011 (about 4 week gap)
Panda Update 2.2: June 16, 2011 (about 5 week gap)
Panda Update 2.3: July 23, 2011 (about 5 week gap)
Panda Update 2.4: August 12, 2011 (about 3 week gap)
Panda Update 2.5: September 28, 2011 (about 7 week gap)
Panda Update 2.6: October 13, 2011 (about 3 weeks gap)

Google Panda Update losers and winners

Searchmetrics posted the list of biggest losers of Panda Update 2.5:

Google Panda 2.5

Also there are good news for some content farms.

Hubpages.com has been hit the hardest after the very first Panda. After Panda launch their traffic dropped by about 70%.
After working hard to prove Google that they are not Content Farm, Hubpages won! This time they gain traffic by 10%.
I guess this answers the question about, can you get out of Panda Update. Hubpages did it after 7 months!
