How to make money on Craigslist

by Galyna on September 28, 2011

Searching for last minutes tickets to a football game for my husband, I googled and discovered that tickets are sold out on the official website of a stadium and all resellers are selling tickets for at least $100 each. Ouch!

So I went to Craigslist.org hoping somebody is selling tickets there, less expensive than 100 bucks each.

What I found out is that prices were even higher on Craigslist. But what was interesting to me is that many postings had links to different websites where they offer to purchase tickets there. [click to continue…]

Niche Website on Steroids: My Experiment

by Galyna on September 26, 2011

In this experiment I will try to turn my Simple niche website to Niche website on steroids and try to significantly increase my AdSense earnings. I will keep track of all the things I’ve done and let you know about all my mistakes I went through, so you don’t have to.

About my niche website

I have a weight loss niche website. It’s been online for approx 1 year. It’s a simple HTML website with approximately 15 pages.  When I picked up domain name for this website, I intended to get traffic for a keyword in it’s name. But the keyword I chose appeared to be too competitive.  Back then I posted few articles, did on-page optimization, very slightly link building and that’s it.

Currently website is making $about 30 monthly with AdSense. Traffic mostly brought by one article. And because weight loss niche has high CPC, website manages to make this much money with not that much traffic.

Current traffic and earnings:

2,600 visits

$30 / monthly

My Goals:

16,400 visits (+13,800 visits)

$200 / monthly

Second type is a website that looks much more complex and professional, have nice design, more than 10 pages and other features that simple niche website does not have. I call such websites Niche Website on Steroids. They also called “authority niche websites”.

Removing Content From Google

by Galyna on September 23, 2011

Why would you need to remove content from Google?
If you have any type of content (texts, images, video, scripts) on your website you don’t want other people to see when they doing their searches on Google.
There are few ways to hide content from being indexed by Google:
1)      Remove / delete particular content from webpage
2)      Remove / delete the whole webpage
3)      Let Google know that this page should not be indexed by using robots.txt
4)      If you’ve removed a page from site, Google still keep cached version of it. To remove webpage from cache, use tag noarchive in section. Next time Googlebot scan a webpage it will honor added tag.
5) Request to remove URL in Google Webmasters Tools (See screenshot. Click on image to zoom.)

by Galyna on September 17, 2011

Google Suggest’s function is to suggest you related searches as you type your search in. Google offers keyword suggestions in real time. Google Suggest is not only makes user experience better finishing users’ requests, but also is a useful tool for keyword research (and it’s free, too!)

Microsoft’s search engine Bign just announced its newest feature – Adaptive Search. It serves exactly the same purpose as Google Suggest.

“Every time you search on Bing, the information provided helps Bing understand what you’re trying to do. The more you search, the more Bing can learn – and use that information to adapt the experience so you can spend less time searching and accomplish what you set out to do.”

Bing’s Adaptive Search analyze a user’s previous interactions with the search engine and determine the intent of the search query.
Let’s see how we can use Bing Adaptive Search and Google Suggest tools to find nice niche keywords. [click to continue…]
